Context
As one of the world's most established cybersecurity brands, Kaspersky operates in a space that is technically complex and often underestimated.
Awareness of cyber threats is widespread, but awareness does not always become personal relevance. Many individuals and organisations still imagine attacks as distant, avoidable or meant for larger targets.
That gap made the communications task sharper: help audiences recognise how closely cybersecurity intersects with everyday behaviour, organisational decisions and the digital environments they already inhabit.
Challenge
The challenge was to close the distance between knowing cyber threats exist and understand they could affect me, my family or my organisation.
Cybersecurity is often communicated through fear, jargon or highly technical warnings. Those approaches may create concern, but they do not always create understanding or action.
RUBIX needed to preserve Kaspersky's technical authority while translating complex issues into stories that felt timely, credible and human across different media segments.
Our Thinking
Cybersecurity stories resonate most when they move beyond fear and jargon, and instead connect threats to lived experiences.
RUBIX approached Kaspersky's communications by positioning the brand as a trusted thought leader across consumer, enterprise and societal contexts.
The strategy focused on making complex issues easier to understand and act upon, using real threat intelligence and data insights to frame conversations that felt relevant to public life.
-
Make risk personally relevant
Translate cyber threats from distant technical events into everyday behaviours and decisions audiences can recognise.
-
Lead with intelligence, not alarm
Use threat data and expert insight to build authority without relying on fear as the main communications device.
-
Adapt the story by audience
Shape different angles for news, technology, business and lifestyle media rather than forcing one-size-fits-all messaging.
The Work
RUBIX developed a content-led media approach anchored in thought leadership, advisories, explainers and contextual narratives.
-
Thought leadership framing
Kaspersky's expertise was positioned across consumer, enterprise and societal conversations, reinforcing its relevance beyond technical audiences.
-
Data-led media narratives
Real threat intelligence and data insights were used to frame timely conversations around national cyber risks, enterprise vulnerabilities and consumer behaviour.
-
Segmented media outreach
Issues were translated into clear advisories, explainers and contextual stories tailored for news, technology, business and lifestyle media.
Outcome
The communications helped bridge technical authority and public understanding in a digital landscape where cybersecurity is part of everyday life.
Through strategic storytelling and targeted outreach, RUBIX reinforced Kaspersky's relevance across media contexts without reducing cybersecurity to fear-led messaging.
The work made complex issues more approachable, helping audiences understand why cybersecurity is no longer optional for individuals, families, businesses and society.
Reflection
Cybersecurity becomes more actionable when people can see themselves inside the risk.
The Kaspersky work shows how technical communications can hold authority while becoming more human. The strongest stories did not simply warn audiences about threats; they helped people understand how digital safety connects to the behaviours, systems and choices of everyday life.
